Rude x 500 million

I have been fantasizing about slapping this rude-assed bi-yatch across the face since 6:11 p.m.

Friday night: 6:10 p.m. My doorbell rings.

I answer the door and a woman is standing on my front porch, holding a flyer from my FSBO flyer box. On the sidewalk in front of the house are two guys, each holding a flyer. OK. So I'm now down three color flyers. Whatever.

I open the door. And say "Hi???"

And this woman says:

"We were interested in your house, but never mind. It's too expensive."

ARE YOU FUCKING KIDDING ME?

Rude No. 1 - three flyers? do you really need three?

Rude No. 2 - ringing my doorbell at 6 pm? how about a phone call if you're interested in seeing the house. you know, call the phone number on the flyer (which you have three copies of) right under where it says SHOWN BY APPOINTMENT ONLY.

Rude No 3 - NEVER MIND? OMFG.

I said "OK" and shut the door.

And spent the rest of the night BROODING over this obnoxious woman who had the balls to climb my steps and ring my doorbell unannounced, interrupt my family's evening, to let me know that she can't fucking afford my house.

It's 11 p.m. and I'm still not over it.

PS: Tim accused me of overreacting. Seriously? There is no reaction to large for this. Maybe the part where I wished for her car to explode as she drove away was a tad over the top. But a tad, at best.

PSS: When Tim realized I was not getting over this anytime soon, right after I finished screaming at him YOU'RE EITHER WITH ME, OR AGAINST ME, he then tried to fake *outrage*. But he totally could not pull it off.

I'm with Feener. That whole scenario is just weird and a little scary, too. Unless she was trying to negotiate you down in which case she needs some work on those skills.

No, they weren't scary at all. Yuppies in two SUVs, kids in one of the cars. I think possibly they had been at a neighbor's house down the street and were leaving? Totally clueless. Seriously. If you were actually looking to BUY a house and see something you like, would you walk up and ring the doorbell at 6 pm, BEFORE YOU'VE EVEN READ THE FLYER WITH THE PRICE IN RED BOLD ACROSS THE TOP? Great. Getting worked up over this again at 7:30 a.m. lol.

Un-fucking-believable.

Tim must be on heavy medication to think this is not - sorry, just a minute, I need to calm down - one of the craziest things I've ever heard. Are you sure it wasn't Candid Camera? Or that a neighbor with a grudge against you for the wild noisy parties you throw until 3 am didn't put some people up to this? Because my heart yearns for a reasonable explanation.

If it hadn't been so early, your reflexes might have been fast enough to say "Ah, well, what if I drop the price $100? Will that make it easier for you to afford?"

Or "Thanks so much for letting me know. I wondered if you would be the one I duped into paying a bundle for my house. Now put the flyers back in the box and leave quickly."

Hey - wait a min. It was 6 in the evening. You couldn't come up with a snappy rejoinder? You're slipping.

But Tim is still a terrible husband for not sharing your outrage. It was REALLY rude. Not as obscenely rude as if it'd been 6 am, but it still gets a 9 on the rudeness scale.

UNBELIEVABLE!

Cheri ... "We're working on not deciding whether or not a reaction is appropriate, but rather if one of us is having one, the other can simply be supportive and caring."

Isn't that what I was doing when I was SCREAMING in his face with my SHRILL voice, accusing him of being a TRAITOROUS BASTARD and giving the ultimatum of YOU'RE EITHER WITH ME OR AGAINST ME?

Because that's totally how I meant it.

I would have had a hard time not arguing with her. The fact that you just said "ok" and closed the door it probably the most appropriate response.

I think with property people get all stupid, they're like "Who does that person think they are charging X dollars for XYZ?" It's some weird, misplaced indignation. Like people who don't understand that houses in California are usually 400K or more. They're all like "that's too expensive". It's the what the market will bear, you morons. I wouldn't pay 400K for my house in Nebraska. Blurgh!
