True Blood, anyone?

Is anyone watching this HBO series?  I watched the first two episodes last night with some girlfriends, while scarfing down red wine, brie and salmon spread.  With no men or children in the house.  And with a dog snuggling next to me.  Does it get better than that?
First, let's get this out of the way.  Vampire Bill?  Hot.

Being the only non-native PNW'er in the group, and having lived in New Orleans from birth to age 30-something, it fell upon me to point out all accurate and inaccurate
portrayals of Louisiana in the program.

True: The sleeveless tee-shirt is alive and well, sadly.
False: People in Louisiana do not speak with a sugary-sweet southern accent.  Louisiana has an accent all its own.
True: Even "nice girls" wear short shorts and even shorter dresses. Looking a tiny bit slutty is totally acceptable in most all social circles.

False: A black gay male can be popular and have friends.  Um, sorry, but not hardly.  The south is still intolerant.
True: While the name is not the same (Descendants of the Glorious Dead), grandmas do still belong to "The Daughters of the Revolution" and other Confederate-loyal civil war societies.

Also, who knew vampires were so horny?  There is more sex than blood sucking going on.

Are we the only people watching this show?

I am lacking in a certain HBO channel to watch it unfold, in real time.

I saw the premiere because I am not lacking in a BBV movie pass, and I loved it.

I love the opening. I love the feel. And yes. I always thought vampires were horny.

I will be catching up, in about a year, when I'll watch the entire series in a week or so. No lie.

Lisa, that is totally how I roll as well. We have "basic cable" so I have to wait and watch all the good stuff on DVD. I have a viewing buddy and she also has basic, so last night we crashed her 24 year old daughter's house, with full on cable (woot!) and she's been DVR'ing the episodes for us. Funny, she wanted to fast forward over all of the sex parts, though, because we were there.

I don't have HBO but I am hearing from everybody and their brother about this show. Maybe I'll get the DVD and see it next year.

While we're on the subject of vampires, I'm reading the Twilight series. Maybe it will make me feel young, written as it was for fourteen year old girls.

La la la I can't hear you! We got hooked on True Blood during that cursed free preview weekend on HBO and I loved it.

Now that we switched from a gazillion satellite channels to a big ass digital antennae in our room to pick up just the local channels, we don't even get to watch Dexter. Or Project Runway. I'm so sad I could cry!!!!

Salmon dip and no children. I might not ever go home.
