Ten on Tuesday

I'm going to give this a shot. Because? I got nothing. Nothing to say. Nothing fun going on. Nothing but a bad attitude towards work and building stress with regard to my upcoming trip. Because that's how I roll. Whenever I have big plans, like a big party or a trip, even though it's 100% enjoyable, I turn into a raging freakazoid fireball of stress for the week beforehand. How cute is that?

Only thing new to report is I did yoga with Carlie yesterday for five minutes, held a plank for a nanosecond and now? My stomach feels like I did a zillion crunches. So very sad.

So I'm going to use the Ten on Tuesday prompts. This week the prompt is 10 Favorite Children's Movies. Of all the weeks to try to start this prompt, I get children's movies? Because I don't really "do" children's movies. Crap. This will be a stretch.

So instead of trying to think of the 10 least detestable movies I've endured with my children, I'm going to go with the 10 best movies and shows that I remember from my own  childhood.

1. Escape to Witch Mountain, 1975. I was nine years old and I lived and breathed this movie. Loved it. I don't know that I've ever gone as bonkers for another movie. Maybe Grease?
2. The Partridge Family. All I lived for was to have Susan Dey's hair. And to make out with David Cassidy.

3. The Kroft Superstar Hour, later known as the Bay City Rollers Show. OMG. S-A-T-U-R-D-A-Y NIGHT. Need I say more.
4. Speed Racer. Best cartoon. Ever. Came on after school, and I remember hauling ass from the bus to be in on time to watch it. Speed was my first animated crush. I hated Ace Deucey.
5. HR Pufnstuf. I think this came before Kroft Superstar Hour? I remember it as being its own show though. What I mostly remember is a character called Witchy Poo. She was my fave.
6. The Bicentennial Minute. The year? 1976. The celebration of the bicentennial. And the Bicentennial Minute was a series of little factoid commercials that came on in prime time as I recall. Each one was narrated by a mega cool TV or movie star. The other thing I remember vividly about 1976, I was 10 years old, was my dad hanging red, white and blue wallpaper in our kitchen. With minutemen on it. My dad? Color blind. The wallpaper? More ghetto than anything I'd ever seen before or have seen since. I think I have a photo somewhere. I'll find it and scan it. You'll die.

7. Schoolhouse Rock. LOVED SHR. My favorites were Conjunction Junction, I'm Just a Bill and the 3's multiplication.
8. Soul Train. I loved Don Cornelius and the Sooooooooooul Train. My favorite part was the showcase section when each couple went down the line doing their own thing.

9. Paper Moon. I wanted to be a con girl so badly.
10. Every single Afterschool Special Ever Made. The hokier, the better. This is probably the root of my love for cheezy made for TV movies even to this day. Oh, Lifetime Movies, how I do miss you.

I'd say '3 is the Magic Number' is one of my all time favorite songs, particularly the Blind Melon version. I like I'm just a bill, too.

Dude, I wrote posts on both the Bay City Rollers AND HR Pufnstuf. Seriously.

Speed Racer was on before school where I grew up; bad news for bus riders like my husband.

And I have the entire Schoolhouse Rock collection on DVD and show it to my HS students.

You are fabulous.

How cool! I, too, am all about Schoolhouse Rock. Imagine my dismay when my son greeted the awesomeness that is Schoolhouse Rock with indifference.

I'm with you on the Afterschool Specials, too. :-)

POST THE PHOTO OF THE WALLPAPER. Must see!

Some of those are pretty sad, buddy. But I'm with you on Schoolhouse Rock. All the way.

I think I'll take this on tomorrow. Stop over and you can make fun of my favorites.

Smooches!

Wow, those were all my favorites except I would swap out soul train for Ramblin Rod. He showed bugs bunny cartoons and had a smile contest. People could be on his show. My friend Dena won the smile contest while I made an ass of myself. Remind me to show you the face I made sometime. Also, the muppet show was awesome!
