Talk me down

A dog is trying to adopt me. He's a blue heeler. Here's the timeline of our relationship thus far:

8 a.m., I go out to the car and the dog is sitting there, waiting for me. I have to FORBID Carlie letting the dog into the car, because he's trying to get in and she's loving every minute of it. I drive her to school.

8:30 a.m., I get home and open the screen door of my mud room to come in the back door of the house, and the dog is in the mud room, having a siesta. Scared the crap out of me. I went into the house, shooed the dog out of the mud room, where he proceeded to lay on the deck and cry loudly to come into the house.

9:30 a.m., I went to the gym. The dog jumped up from his nap on the deck and wagged his tail madly. I ignored him (mostly) and got in the car and drove away.

10:30 a.m., Home from the gym and guess who is still hanging on my deck? My neighbor came over and asked if I were dog sitting. I said no. Neighbor decided to put out a bowl of food and water in his driveway for the dog and I had to make the dog go with him. Dog wanted to stay with me.

This dog obviously wants to be my dog. What if this is like a reincarnation of a lost loved one trying to give me a message? Isn't it my DUTY to take my psychotic cat to the pound RIGHT NOW and adopt this dog?

UPDATE: When I left for work, the dog was sunbathing in my neighbor's driveway. My neighbor said she was going to call the SPCA to have the dog scanned for a chip. He's obviously someone's dog, he's totally well behaved and mellow and is wearing a collar though with no tags.

When I got home from work, the dog was gone. No contact with the neighbor to know if he indeed went to the SPCA.

Dog drama is concluded. And just FYI, this "can I keep it? can I keep it?" mentality also applies to small children who do not appear to be properly appreciated by their parents and once a ferret who was going to the SPCA, an incident which ended quite unfortunately.

That dog is your destiny.

Just make sure he doesn't belong to someone who loves him...

if he found you then I'd say there is a reason...

The best dog I ever had adopted our familiy in a similar fashion. Let go & let fate - he is meant to be yours... Ok - gotta go I am so late for work already...

I think our children are the same. We had a similar incident around Christmas with an adorable golden lab puppy.

Your story has my curiosity up - please get an update from your neighbor!

See, now I must know what happened to the dog?
