Bicycle Boy Update

The saga continues. The lady who hit him had the weekend to mull it over and, hmmm, actually, you were in my way and screw you. I'm paraphrasing, but you get the jist. Taylor called the lawyer, who, wonderful friend that he is, called the lady and put the fear of litigation in her, and long story short, an insurance claim for personal injury has begun. So Taylor has a magic claim number that entitles him to health care without any upfront expense. Cost of bike repair will be another issue. She may only have to pay half unless he wants to file a lawsuit. Which is so not worth it.

I gave him a ride today to see the MD and he got checked out. And was given a referral for a spinal x-ray (just to be safe, though the doctor thinks his back pain is soft tissue) and a referral for a testicular ultrasound, because his bike seat apparently smashed him pretty good. The doctor said he should have come in sooner and she fears permanent damage. I have no idea how the doctor can throw out the words "permanent damage" and "sterility" in the span of a 15-minute exam, but she did.

So he has his referrals and his magic claim number and we'll see if he takes the initiative to schedule his x-ray and ultrasound. Because when you are 20 and unemployed, apparently you are really, really busy and having to do things like make phone calls and schedule appointments is quite a drain and burden.
