Coupons

Do you use coupons? I've been on and off again about them for the last forever years. When I was "on," I didn't find them to be that much of a savings. Maybe I wasn't doing it right?

But anyhoo... In the spirit of my new savings-oriented lifestyle, I'm sharing this coupon for Snuggle Creme Liquid Fabric Softener.  The scents sound scrumptious.  Click here if you'd like a $2 off coupon.  You'll need to enter your name, email address and zip code in order to print the coupon.

Another area that has amounted to cost savings for me is that when I started dieting in November '07, I gave up fast food (for the most part). Which, I KNOW, fast food is pretty much gross. But when I am working, I have to eat what I can find. I don't have an office where I can brown bag it, keep things in a fridge, use a microwave, etc. On work days for me, it usually means eating in the car. When I was in hard core diet mode, I'd opt for a fast food salad (which is usually DISGUSTING), yogurt parfait at McD's and chicken fajita pita at Jack in the Box as the least horrific calorie/fat lunches. I also on occasion carried around "tuna kits," kind of like a lunchable, but with tuna and crackers. I've gotten out of that habit but am far less fast-food dependent than I used to be.

That being said.... Here's a coupon for a free sandwich at Arby's. I know. It's Arby's. But? It is free. If you buy a drink. I took Carlie Thursday for lunch, bought two small sodas and got two free sandwiches. Not a bad deal.  And? I'm not going to lie, the sandwich was tasty. I KNOW, IT'S ARBY'S, but it was. Don't judge me. This one expires March 20, so if you want to get your roast beef on, act fast.

Sharing the recession love.

You're swell [even if you do eat at The Restaurant That Shall Not Be Named but starts with a golden rounded M].

I actually saved $15 at Whole Foods last week and $40 (!!!) at QFC yesterday with my coupons. Tip: Write to companies you love and emote about their products (or explain when something isn't up to the quality you expected) - sometimes they'll send big money savings...

Okay...I'll say...when I come 'home', Arby's is one of THE places I have to go to....their curly fries are what dreams are made of!!

The whole coupon idea is just now catching on over here, but still...not so much. When I was in the States, I always made sure that I did my big grocery shopping on double, or triple-coupon days. It was amazing how much money I could save that way!!

I'm sure not judging. I try to bring stuff from home but there is no microwave at work and I can eat only so many sandwiches a week. I'm strange and picky and don't much want cold pasta salad during the winter. That's warm-weather food.

Which leaves grilled chicken sandwiches from Wendy's or mandarin chicken salad from there, only I learned recently the salad dressing has as many calories as the entire salad. Awesome.

I love coupons but am notoriously bad about using them before the expiration date. If you like Sweet Tomatoes, they have a frequent great deal - buy one meal get one meal free with the purchase of 2 drinks. Just sign up for their mailing list.

I used to be an excellent coupon cutter, but I always forgot to bring them with me to the store, so I've finally given up on the cutting part.

As for fast food, I used to eat a lot then about 7 years ago I lost 50lbs, and one of the secrets to my success was no more Chick fil a. Now the thought of eating any fast food just grosses me out.

I LOVE Arby's! Even if most of the locations around here scare the bejeezus out of me.

When I was growing up, we had coupon envelopes, seems like we had 3 or 4, but the only categories i can think of now were food and non-food. Not sure what the others would have been! It was my job to go through every few weeks and cull the expired ones and put the new ones in according to expiration date.
