Tonight was the first show in the tour. And I've got to tell you... Miley? All grown up.
Costumes include lots of leather, lots of cleavage, short shorts with boots. The dancing includes lots of bump and grind, very suggestive, including male/female dance couples doing some serious emoting during some contemporary dance routines. All very So You Think You Can Dance-ish.
This is the fourth (maybe fifth?) Miley concert for us. And it was definitely not geared towards the screaming 8 year olds and their moms that filled the arena. As my husband put it, "This is the end of my childhood." That, right after, "Wow, that Miley sure has filled out." Yeah.
Carlie (age 10) gave the concert an 8 out of 10. The two point deduction is for being too loud. "I can feel it thumping me. I don't like it." That's a quote.
Erinna (age 16) gave the concert a 7 overall. She gave the music a 2 but the outfits an 8. And she liked the dancing. Oy.
I give Miley's hair extension a 10. If those are part of the Miley for Walmart collection, I'm there.
If I were one of the adults advising Miley, my advice would be NO BLACK DEMI-CUP BRAS UNDER WHITE WIFE-BEATERS. EVER. My second piece of advice would be MILK THE DISNEY CASH COW as long as possible. Those 8 year olds and their moms are going to spend a lot more money on your Walmart clothes than the teen/young adult audience you're obviously trying to attract.
If you're thinking about taking your Hannah Montana-loving kids to the Miley concert when it comes to town... you've been warned.
