AKA The series of events that led to the opening of Carlie's own Etsy shoppe, which threatens to turn our home into a sweat shop under her dictatorial leadership...
AKA I'm pretty sure this is how all of the barons of big business got their start, right?

So this week Tim and I laid down the law, wherein laid down the law = no more TV for anyone in this household on school nights. Period. The end. This includes Blazer Basketball games and brand new episodes of Wizards of Waverly Place. It is also apparently tantamount to child abuse. Who knew?
No more TV after homework = Carlie needs a hobby. She has dance a couple of nights per week, homework every day and she reads for an hour before bed. You would think that would be enough to keep her busy. But it's not. There's still a few funky hours in the evening that need to be occupied. So I decided to force her to have a hobby. Force. As in for one shining moment, I'm a Chinese mother and this is how it's going to be.
I tried to interest her in knitting, crochet, embroidery, crossstitch, all of the solitary activities that I could think of to keep her busy, but she wasn't interested. The only thing she expressed any interest in was digging out the box of polymer clay to make charms.
Because Carlie is indeed my child, having fun with the clay just for the sake of having fun is entirely out of the question. By the end of the first night, she had written up a business model and started brainstorming names for her Etsy shoppe.
And BananaCreamPuff.com was born.
She's currently working on some very cute Valentine themed charms, so check back after the weekend. And she has me "on call" for baby hats if anyone places an order. Because, you know, I don't have anything else to do but knit baby hats. No, really. It's fine. Free time is my middle name.PS: You can also like Banana Cream Puff on Facebook!
PPS: I totally just watched The Office on TiVo after she was asleep. Rules? We don't need no stinkin' rules.
