When will they start listening to me?

Have you ever asked your kid eleventy million times if they need to use the bathroom before you leave Quiznos to go hiking? And they say no, no, no? And as soon as you leave, and park, and hike for half an hour to a place with no bathrooms, that kid has to pee? And then you realize that this kid, this girl kid, has never peed outside before and much drama ensues? And the whole wonderful day of exploring nature turns into a big screaming MY PANTS ARE WET TAKE ME HOME nightmare that makes you laugh a maniacal cackling laugh, which in turn makes your kid CRY EVEN MORE, but you can't stop because oh my god you are going insane? Just hypothetically asking, of course.

Oh yes, that's happened to me. Apparently food is the trigger for Lizzie. No matter where we are, how many opportunities she has to use the facilities prior to being served dinner, Lizzie inevitably has to go mid-way through the meal. And when she was little, outhouses were out of the question.

I wonder if boys have an easier time with the whole pee-in-nature thing, even if they've never done it before. I suppose I shall be finding out!!

Oi. I can't get my 10 yr old to pee inside. Too many trees, not enough time evidently.

My 5 year old wanted to try peeing outside because she saw her daddy do it once. Even with my help, she ended up peeing all over her pants. Not a fun way to spend an afternoon, at ALL!

My girls are a little too comfortable peeing outside. They will do it on the side of the road if needed. I clearly have done my job as a parent. Or completely failed. One of the two.
