Gone, but not forgotten

Hello Blog Friends, remember me? I've been kind of lost in space. Not really. But I have been very busy with some important personal projects. First and foremost, I am today on Day 19 of a medically supervised 21-day detox diet, which consists of 500 calories per day of a very short list of foods. 21 days. 500 calories. No sugar, no gluten, no fats/oils/butter, no artificial sweeteners. The approved foods = Meat -- chicken breast, crab, shrimp, 96% lean beef - 3.5 oz twice a day. Veggies = lettuce, cabbage, spinach, asparagus, cucumber, tomato, one at a time, twice a day. Fruits = apples and strawberries, once a day. AND THAT'S IT PEOPLE. THAT'S IT. THAT'S ALL THE FOOD I HAVE BEEN EATING. Miraculously, no one has died by my hand. I've lost 12.4 pounds and hopefully when I see my doctor Monday I'll be advised that my cholesterol is super low, my blood sugar is picture perfect, and my liver enzymes have completely normalized. Because 21 days ago those things were, shall we say, less than optimal. Also, I look exactly like the girl in the picture. I LOVE VEGGIES! Yay! Woot! Detox rocks! Of course, minus the hand weights because the one bright side of the detox diet has been that it's supposed to be 21 restful days of no exercise. That? I can do. Really well. Secondly, I've had four seasons of Friday Night Lights to catch up on. Four Seasons. Do you know what kind of time commitment that is? But it's got to be done. Tim Riggins, oh, how I love you. The tragic bad boy with a heart of gold. I'm a sucker for a beer swilling, school skipping, juvenile delinquent who's not really jail bait in real life. Suck. Er.
And, of course, the soul-sucking time consuming, all encompassing enterprise of Banana Cream Puff. Carlie has applied to sell at the Vancouver Farmer's Market, which? Turns out? Kind of a B.F.D. to get into the Farmer's Market. She wrote a fabulous application and has made it to the next phase, which is having her wares juried on April 20. So, yeah, we've got that going on.

Oh, and because I am a glutton for punishment like nobody's business, when my detox ends on Monday, I start marathon training on Tuesday for the inaugural running of the Vancouver USA Marathon. I'm registered for the half-marathon, which will zip right past my home along the river-front trail that I vowed to run frequently when we moved. Yeah. Like that happened.

So, yeah. That's the highlight. How 'bout y'all? What's been going on?

Thank goodness, at least coffee!!Then I might be able to do something like this. Glad to see you back on here. Been missing you and checking every day. Can tell you have had lots going on. Can't wait to hear how it goes at the doctor. Maybe it will inspire me to give up a few nasty habits! Good luck with healthier eating and the half-marathon and good for you for the hard work so far! :)

Oh my goodness! I hope you survived! How did the appointment go?? I am so impressed by you! And Carlie-- my kid is the same age and doesn't even put his clothes away, or get his own spoons, let alone start a business. Sheesh.

Is this a late April Fool's joke? 500 calories a day? You've got to be kidding.

If not, GO YOU! My but you are strong.

Do you eat all those veggies one at a time, twice a day? How much of them?
